Rice Packaging Thinks Outside the Box with New Speedmaster CD 102 from Heidelberg
As a full-service manufacturer of packaging for high-end national clients in the publishing, tool, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, Rice Packaging needed a reliable press to manage its growing needs. The Ellington, Conn.- based company found this high performance press in Heidelberg’s six-color Speedmaster CD 102 with Prinect Image Control. Marketing Manager Dale Stevens chose the Speedmaster CD 102 since “Heidelberg presses are reliable” and said the company is expecting to see a tremendous increase in productivity with the latest addition to its pressroom. Among the benefits, “the automation features have enabled faster changeover, thus allowing us to use a wider range of board stocks,” she said. “Superior print quality, color scanning capabilities, and ease of maintenance all contributed to our choice of the Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102.” William A. Rice opened Rice Packaging in 1964 in a quaint, turn-of-the-century dairy farm. Today, the company has expanded into several buildings and produces folding cartons, boxes, paperboard, skin sheets, blister cards, labels and point-of-purchase displays. The specialty printer has more than 100 employees.
