Perfection Press Lives Up to Its Name with New Printmaster PM 74
Perfection Press in Logan , Iowa should give lessons in professional printing. The printer, which produces school text books and workbooks, has just upgraded to a new 4-color Printmaster PM 74 with perfector. Perfection Press Vice President Steve Browning says the new press has been an “amazing” improvement over the shop’s old press. He says make-ready times have been cut in half and run speeds have doubled to 10,000 sph. Other features Perfection Press likes include the press’ reasonably compact design that didn’t require the shop to pour any new flooring; the static eliminator, which allows the shop to print on lighter weight paper; and the auto blanket and auto plate that result in quicker make-ready times. Browning also says the system service 36plus agreement, which comes with new Heidelberg presses and provides 36 months of repair services and parts, Web-based remote service and 24/7 expert access, gives him “peace of mind.” Perfection Press produces education material for its sister company, Perfection Learning, as well as general commercial printing for colleges and small publishers. Founded in 1965, it now employs 45 people.
