KENNESAW, Ga. — July 5, 2017 — SunDance recently replaced an older competitive digital machine with a new Versafire CP digital press from Heidelberg. In just the first few days after installation, SunDance is already seeing significant advantages in speed, substrate versatility, and sheet size.
Unparalleled Digital Flexibility
Needing to increase the capacity and throughput on the digital side of the business, SunDance chose Heidelberg for a more robust solution over their former digital press. Now, with Versafire’s print speeds of 130 pages-per-minute, the company is producing digital work more quickly than ever before.
“The reliability and speed of the machine played a huge role in our decision to purchase the Versafire,” said JohnHenry Ruggieri, Managing Partner, SunDance. “Before, we had two digital presses from two different manufacturers – neither of them could keep up with the work we needed to produce. The Versafire has only been installed for a short time, and we’re already getting jobs out the door much faster.”
Producing cost-effective color print jobs, the Versafire CP delivers the best price-to-performance ratio in its class – exceeding the quality and applications of competitive machines that are double the price. In addition to quality and speed, Ruggieri also cites the flexible substrate range of the machine and its maximum sheet size of 13” x 27.5” as other key factors in SunDance’s decision to purchase the Versafire.
“We’re printing on substrates that we weren’t even aware we could run digitally. That’s really opened up so many more avenues for our customers on the digital side,” said Ruggieri.
Heidelberg From Start to Finish
The Versafire CP is another addition to the almost completely Heidelberg run business; it complements an existing Speedmaster CD 102, Suprasetter CtP, POLAR cutters, and Stahlfolders. Additionally, SunDance uses Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow, including Prinect Color Toolbox, the industry’s leading color management software – giving them ability to match color across both offset and digital platforms.
According to Ruggieri, “The reason we went with Heidelberg on our latest digital press was not only a testament to the capabilities of the machine but also to our long standing relationship with Heidelberg. I only have one call if I’m having a problem with any of my machines, and someone is there to help me over the phone or is scheduled to come in right away. Their service team is simply unparalleled in the industry.”
