Heritage Press Expands Facility
EL RENO, OK—Heritage Press hosted an open house recently to celebrate its growth, which includes an expansion and the addition of several key pieces of equipment.
The 26-year-old firm doubled the size of its original facility, from roughly 25,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet, highlighted by a new production area. The upgrades include a six-color Mitsubishi Model 3F-13 sheetfed press, a Muller Martini Presto saddle stitcher, Heidelberg Polar 115 cutter, a 41˝ KBA sheetfed press and a CreoScitex Dolev 800 imagesetter.
Heritage Press, a producer of high-quality corporate image materials and point-of-purchase kits, converted its old production area into offices and warehouse space.
"The new production space was designed by the employees who work in those departments, so there is a good, efficient workflow," states David C. DeLana, president of Heritage Press.
In terms of the new Mitsubishi press, DeLana notes that his company was seeking to attract new clientele and produce higher-quality work for existing customers. Mitsubishi's six-color, 40˝ unit with tower coater and extended delivery was chosen following extensive print tests of various manufacturers' equipment.
"We needed a press that could produce six-color jobs competitively and accommodate the wide range of substrates we run with less trouble than other presses we've operated in the past," DeLana remarks.
"The Mitsubishi press is able to handle heavier weight board without marking problems," he adds. "We print on everything from 24-pt. board to vinyl and other plastics to lightweight sheets. It's a simple machine to change over. The ability to quickly change from 24-pt. board to 70-lb. offset paper has helped us a lot. That and the speed of the machine is where we're seeing major benefits."
DeLana also notes that the Presto saddle stitcher features six pockets and a cover feeder. The Dolev, which was installed a year ago, has helped buoy the company's journey into CTP, which he expects will reach fruition this month.
