Historic Pittsburgh Printing Company Finds New Home in the City
PITTSBURGH—November 7, 2007 — Geyer Printing, a Consolidated Graphics company (NYSE:CGX) in Pittsburgh, has announced that it will be relocating from the current location at the intersection of Bigelow Boulevard and the Bloomfield Bridge to a new facility located at 55 38th Street. While many other companies have moved further and further away from the downtown area, Geyer Printing was determined to find a new location that kept them close to the heart of Pittsburgh.
“The Company’s location has always been fantastic in terms of its close proximity to downtown Pittsburgh, The Strip District, Oakland, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill and Bloomfield,” said Scott Barthelmes, president of Geyer Printing. “However, the old, triangular, multi-story building just doesn’t accommodate our plans for growth and improved production efficiencies. So, we were very happy to find a new location that keeps us in the city, and will allow Geyer’s continued progress.”
Geyer’s new 50,700 square foot facility will be a single level building that had formerly housed Unisource Paper in the Lawrenceville Commerce Park area. The company’s relocation plans include a new press as well as a room that has been specifically suited for digital press equipment. In addition, Geyer plans to ramp up volume by increasing the size of its sales team.
“With the onset of electronic file transfers, email, cell phones, and Black Berries, many companies have decided that being close to the heart of the city isn’t important anymore,” said Geyer Printing CEO and former owner Bruce McGough. “We believe that being in the city is vital because we are centrally located for clients who press check their jobs and our employees will not have to commute long distances.”
Construction on the new facility has already begun, and Geyer Printing’s move is expected to take place in February 2008.
