Hit Me Baby One More Time… With Some Paper
Even the princess of pop can’t evade the paper shortage.
According to TMZ, Spears’ tell-all memoir is finally complete, but there’s one little hiccup — there’s no paper to produce it.
TMZ reported that the deal Spears deal signed in February 2022 scored her a $15 million advance. The deal was one of the biggest for a memoir, second only to the Obamas -- who signed with Penguin Random House for more than $60M.
Sources close to the pop culture icon told TMZ that “she recently wrapped up the dishy memoir, which is set to be published by Simon & Schuster,” TMZ reports, “We're told Britney and co. are aiming for a release date in January [2023] -- but there's a paper shortage that has upended the plan.”
And since there’s no hard deadline as to when the shortage will end (some experts hint it might not be until well into 2023), eager readers and fans now have no firm release date for the book.
But don’t worry, even with this delay, her memoir will still be worth the wait. Naturally, the pop star’s book will have plenty of material – from her days as a child star to finding superstardom and the falling out with her family during her conservatorship.
