HP's Alon Bar-Shany to Deliver Keynote for Photo Imaging Conference at GRAPH EXPO 14
CHICAGO—August 7, 2014—Under the theme "Succeeding in the Changing Market," the Photo Imaging Conference at GRAPH EXPO 14 will start on Monday afternoon, September 29, with luncheon keynote speaker Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager of the Indigo Division at HP. His topic, Digital Presses Taking Printing Well Beyond Prints and Photobooks, will look at the rapidly expanding market and new applications for personalized photo products. Based in Rehovot, Israel, Alon has held worldwide responsibility for the HP Indigo division since 2004. Alon oversees all aspects of the development, marketing and deployment of HP Indigo solutions to an installed base of over 4,000 customers in 120 countries. A strong advocate of close customer relationships, he spends considerable time visiting customers worldwide and also sits on the Global Board of Directors of Dscoop, the independent users association of HP Graphic Arts.
Jennifer Matt, president of Web2Print Experts, will talk about E-Commerce Trends and Their Impact on the Photo Market. Her company is a technology-independent consulting firm that helps printers choose, implement, integrate and launch Web-to-print and print MIS solutions. She is the managing editor of the WhatTheyThink Print Software special interest area and has written two books.
Scott Peterson from Tecnau will address Integrated Finishing is the Key to Higher Productivity and The Real Benefits of Automated Image Correction will be addressed by Brad Malcolm from Athentech Imaging
Vince Mallardi, director of the Printing Brokerage Buyers Association International, will deliver the Day 2 Keynote at noon on Tuesday, exploring and discussing How Technology and Computing Power Will Change the Print and Photo Industries. Vince will also moderate a panel presentation and discussion on 3D and Raised Printing, which is arousing keen interest in the industry and what is involved. Ray Hicks from CO2 Meter, who has studied the 3-D modeling for several years will talk about 3D Printing as a Service. Barry Walsh from Scodix will discuss Bringing the Buzz of 3D Printing to Traditional Print Substrates. Additional panelists will be announced to discuss the significantly higher returns created by printing unusual, eye-catching and attention-getting promotional pieces and personalized photo products. Rounding out Tuesday's program will be Selling Personalized Products to Yearbook Customers is the topic of a presentation by Gary Wood of Pixami and Don Franz from Photo Imaging News will talk about Trends in the U.S. Professional Photography Market, based on a recently completed study.
In addition to the conference, there is a Photo Imaging Networking Pavilion located in the GRAPH EXPO 14 tradeshow. There will be a large booth open during show hours on all four days of GraphExpo, with tables and chairs which serve as a "meeting point" where members of the photo community can sit and talk to others. Photo community members will also be able to "book a table" through one of conference sponsors, who will each have a display in the booth.There will be information from sponsors, a few of which will have staffed tables to answer inquiries about developments in the industry and to display/discuss their products.
Registration for the entire conference, including the opening luncheon with keynote speaker, conference presentations and refreshment breaks, is $299 before August 29. For the first day only, registration is $200 and the second day only is $125 before August 29, and a Keynote Luncheon Only registration is $60. All registrations include access to GRAPH EXPO.
