Director Dr. Abhay Sharma of Ryerson University, also added: "The study indicates there are some exciting products on the market with good color, good speed and good image qualities, such as permanence and weatherability. The ability of color management systems to control color and achieve target values is exceptional, with many dedicated RIP systems providing workflows to achieve accurate color and also verify that color to a print standard or in-house specification."
Devices studied used light or eco solvent inks, UV-curable inks or latex ink. Media used ranges from card stock to cast or calendared vinyl to rigid media including Coroplast. Viewing distances for these products range from POP to greater distances for street signs, banners and billboards. Testing was conducted under the direction of Lyndee Sing and Dr. Xiaoying Rong of California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly).
