The “Internet of Things” (IoT) is spread throughout our lives with many things being networked together. The printing industry is no exception and the IoT is playing an important role in day-to-day business. The printing industry is looking to vendors not only to automate solutions for labor savings but also to connect solutions through networks.
At IGAS 2018, nine market-leading companies gathered at the Smart Factory Zone in the Horizon booth, and various seminars were presented by these industry innovators with good customer feedback. As a result, Think Smart Factory 2019 was organized after IGAS and will be held in Kyoto, Japan.
Think Smart Factory 2019 is sponsored by the TSF2019 consortium which includes market-leading vendors and innovative users. It is an exhibition aimed at stimulating the future success of the printing industry. At TSF2019 every system in the hall will be connected via a digital workflow, an automatic transport system, and in-feeding and off-loading robots will be incorporated to demonstrate a fully automated Smart Factory operation. Within the 4,000 sqm (43,000 sqft) of floor space, the end-to-end automated workflow will be demonstrated with a focus on finished products. Horizon’s solutions will be used for the finishing process and they will be connected from order entry to delivery. In addition, digital technology will be the focus, demonstrating “A high level of automation and quality through digital technology”.
Ten vendors are currently committed to participate in TSF2019, including Canon Marketing Japan. Inc., FUJIFILM Global Graphic Systems Co., Ltd., Goof, inc., Horizon International Inc., HP Japan Inc., JSPIRITS Inc., KONICA MINOLTA JAPAN, INC., RESOLOGIC. Inc., Ricoh Japan Co., Ltd., and SCREEN Graphic Solutions Co., Ltd. From the user’s side, Nissha Printing Communications, Inc. and New Book are participating. Further details about the show, including products, presenters, and the workflow systems will be announced shortly. One unique concept of TSF2019 is to eliminate individual vendor booths and to use the entire floor as a working factory to show real Smart Factory concepts in a live demonstration.
The Smart Factory Zone (theatre) will be prepared in the hall, as it was at IGAS 2018, and 16 sessions will be conducted in three days with English translation.
TSF2019 will be held in the beautiful and vibrant city of Kyoto, at Miyako Messe on November 11-13, 2019, which is steeped with traditional culture, and natural and architectural beauty. Various planned activities will be available to enjoy the sights and sounds of Kyoto.
This is the inaugural Think Smart Factory event, but the goal is for this to become a regular, important industry event.
