Injured Worker Sues Over Explosion
JACKSON, MS—The May 3 explosion at International Paper’s mill in Redwood, MS, has produced a lawsuit from a contract worker who was injured in the boiler blast. The lawsuit, filed by Glen Rankin, 52, names International Paper, several employees and others involved in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of the boiler.
Four burn victims remain in critical condition at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Atlanta, according to the Associated Press. Rankin, who was not one of the four, claims he was slammed against a wall by the impact of the blast and is still being treated for severe injuries, his lawyer told the AP.
International Paper is still investigating the cause of the explosion, which claimed the life of a contract worker. The company said it does not comment on pending litigation.
