This week in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department will celebrate International Graphic Communication Week, an event the school has celebrated annually since 1984. It will include a lecture series, a banquet and a career fair.
The keynote speaker at the banquet on Wed., Jan. 23, will be Joel Quadracci, chairman, president and CEO of Quad/Graphics. Other speakers during the week will include Dr. Dov Isaacs, a principal scientist at Adobe Systems; Mike Ferrari, founder and president of Ferrari Innovation Solutions; Sean O'Connor, user experience lead in the software division of GE; and Nathan Ostrout, additive manufacturing (i.e., 3D printing) manager at Glidewell Laboratories.
The docket will also feature several graduates from Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department, who will speak about their current positions and how they attained them.
Thursday will be career day, when students can network with companies from across the print industry, discuss employment opportunities and even interview with potential employers.
