Italian Printer Places Another Sunday Order
DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY—Even before the ink dried on its contract to install the world’s first 96-page Goss Sunday 5000 commercial web press (scheduled for installation in early 2009), Italian printer Mazzucchelli signed a letter of intent at Drupa to add a second identical behemoth at its facility in Seriate, Italy.
The Sunday 5000’s 112˝ web width will allow printing of 96 full A4 magazine pages per cylinder revolution at up to 40,000 impressions per hour. Gapless blanket technology is an integral component, reducing vibration to enable high speed, high quality printing with the wider 12x4 long-grain cylinder configuration. The four-unit models being installed by Mazzucchelli will be equipped with Goss Contiweb FD pasters, Ecocool dryers with integrated chill rolls and the Goss Autoplate automatic plate changing system.
