Japs-Olson Orders First-of-its-kind Goss Sunday Web Press
DURHAM, NH—October 11th, 2010—Japs-Olson Co. placed an order at the GRAPH EXPO show for a new eight-unit Goss Sunday 2000 web press that will be configured for highly automated direct-mail production. The new gapless Sunday press will be equipped with Goss Autoplate fully automatic plate changing and Automatic Transfer technologies, which will allow four-color job changes to be completed without stopping the press.
Installation will begin at the Japs-Olson facility in St. Louis Park, MN, in mid 2011. The new press will complement an eight-unit Sunday 2000 press with Automatic Transfer capabilities installed in 2007.
With eight Automatic Transfer printing units, operators are able to complete a makeready for a new job on four idle units and then bring those units on impression while simultaneously taking the four units printing the previous job off impression. Bypassing the AT feature allows printing of up to eight colors.
The new Sunday press at Japs-Olson will interface with an inline finishing system. Goss International will supply a Contiweb splicer, Ecocool dryer and its Goss Omnicon control system.
