Japs-Olson Chooses Integrated Kodak Digital Solution
ROCHESTER, NY—Oct. 4, 2010—Japs-Olson Company, a worldwide leader in direct mail services and commercial printing in Minneapolis, Minn., signed an order today at GRAPH EXPO for a complete, end-to-end digital printing solution including printheads, presses and consumables, all manufactured by Kodak.
The purchase includes multiple KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting Systems, multiple KODAK NEXPRESS SE3000 Digital Production Color Presses with Print Genius, a KODAK DIGIMASTER EX150 Digital Production System, KODAK INSITE Storefront System and a multi-year contract for KODAK TRILLIAN SP Plates. With this latest addition, Japs-Olson will be running a total of 48 PROSPER S10 Imprinting Systems.
This combination of end-to-end solutions from Kodak allows Japs-Olson to integrate its digital and web offset workflow, reduce chemical and energy use, and extend its variable data capabilities to its offset printing workflow. This purchase is part of an ongoing effort by Japs-Olson to further expand its digital capabilities, while providing an ever-growing range of variable data printing (VDP) solutions to its customers.
"Japs-Olson is truly a leader in leveraging digital prepress and printing technology to streamline production, expand its offerings and better serve its customers,” said Ronen Cohen, Vice President, Inkjet Printing Solutions, Kodak. “This installation is a great example of how our broad, integrated portfolio of solutions can address all the needs of our customers and provide a strong foundation on which to build a profitable, successful business.”
The KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting System, which can be seamlessly integrated into a variety of web offset presses, operates at speeds of up to 1,000 fpm (305 mpm) with a resolution of 600 dpi. By combining a digital solution with offset printing, the PROSPER S10 Imprinting System eliminates the traditional, two-step VDP process that requires offset pre-printed forms and offline laser imprinting.
The KODAK NEXPRESS SE3000 Digital Production Color Press with Print Genius offers groundbreaking productivity, seamless integration in implementing VDP capabilities, and improved file processing with the KODAK NEXPRESS Front End System.
Designed to run up to five million pages per month, the KODAK DIGIMASTER EX150 Digital Production System provides black and white impressions at 600 dpi, at speeds of 150 ipm (A4). With a standard configuration of three paper supply drawers (4,000 sheets) and a broad range of media support, the DIGIMASTER EX150 System produces basic documents and sophisticated jobs with complex finishing requirements.
KODAK TRILLIAN SP Thermal Plates offer improved productivity in imaging and processing, reduced chemistry consumption and long unbaked run lengths to reduce a print provider’s environmental impact and improve efficiency—all while lowering production costs.
Japs-Olson’s choice of KODAK INSITE Storefront System brings the convenience of web-to-print ordering to its VDP customers. Using a branded print-ordering web portal, Japs-Olson customers can enjoy secure, flexible, and simplified purchasing options for their offset, digital, and blended jobs. INSITE Storefront integrates seamlessly with the KODAK PRINERGY Connect Workflow already in place at Japs-Olson.
For many years, Japs-Olson has relied on a full range of KODAK Solutions, including KODAK MAGNUS 800 Platesetters imaging KODAK THERMAL GOLD Digital Plates, KODAK APPROVAL Proofing Systems, KODAK VERSAMARK DS9100 and DS5300 Printing Systems, KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System with KODAK INSITE Software, KODAK UPFRONT Software, and KODAK PREPS Software.
