JDF & CIM -- Issues Are Not so CIMple

The most efficient solution, in this case, would be for all prepress systems to write the same data in the same manner so each press manufacturer would only have to work out one translation for the data structure. That's the idea behind Interoperability Conformance Specifications (ICS). ICS documents are subsets of the broader JDF specification that define a standard "how-to" method for connecting workflow components. They define a set of data to be written and read by corresponding components in order for them to be judged "JDF-compliant."
