“Many companies are looking for a more environmentally friendly option with their choice of materials,” states Jeff Norby, president of Jet. “This nature-based plastic is a great alternative without getting away from the look and feel of traditional plastics.”
NatureWorks PLA is the world’s first commercially available plastic made from an annually renewable resource – field corn. Polylactic acid (PLA) is made from lactic acid derived from dextrose through the fermentation of the corn. This unique technology creates a corn-based resin, offering a more environmentally responsible material that can be used in the production of everything from plastic cups and packaging to gift cards and plant tags.
