Jim Hopkins ‘Semi Retires,’ Roy Waterhouse Becomes President of Hopkins Printing
COLUMBUS, OH—June 1, 2010—Jim Hopkins has announced to the employee owners of Hopkins Printing that he has decided to move into a "semi-retirement" phase of his life. Roy Waterhouse will become President and Vicky Tilton will become COO. Hopkins will remain CEO and will continue to help guide the entire management team.
Hopkins started his first print shop in his garage more than 35 years ago with a $2,000 bank loan and $1,000 from his mother. J & A Printing grew into Hop-To Printing. Hop-To Printing grew into J.F. Hopkins & Associates. J.F. Hopkins & Associates became what is today Hopkins Printing.
Hopkins has received many honors over the years, including being inducted into the Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame, being named one of Columbus Ohio's 10 Best CEOs by the Columbus C.E.O. Magazine, being inducted into the Junior Achievement Central Ohio Business Hall of Fame, being named Craftsman of the Year by the Columbus Club of Printing House Craftsmen and he was awarded the Franklinton Award by the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
He has served on and chaired many boards during the past several years including the Homeless Families Foundation, the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky, the Printing Industry Education Funds and Skills Ohio. He was on advisory councils for Columbus State Community College and the Northeast Career Center. Jim was also a trustee for the Printing Industries Health Care Plan.
Jim and his wife Arnie have been married 46 years and plan to cut back the number of days they work in the plant to spend some quality "retirement" time together. They enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with their four grandchildren and boating at Buckeye Lake.
