Printing Industries of America (PIA) is pleased to announce that June Crespo, director of Board & Affiliate Relations of Printing Industries of America, has been named the recipient of the 2019 Naomi Berber Memorial Award. Crespo was presented with her award at the 2019 Ben Franklin Honor Society induction ceremony on Nov. 15, 2019 in Houston, Texas. This award honors outstanding women in the graphic communications industry for their exceptional record of accomplishments, extraordinary contributions toward the development of the graphic communications industry, and for having advanced the interests of the industry.
This year's nomination included such commendations as, "June’s commitment and dedication to the mission of PIA and the industry it serves is unparalleled. She has selflessly devoted nearly 20 years of her life to serving the volunteer leaders in the printing industry, ranging from local affiliate representatives to the chairs of the board of the largest graphic arts trade association in the world."
The nominator proceeded to highlight Crespo's commitment to the industry with, "June has worked tirelessly to ensure that every chair of the PIA Board succeed in their roles. Everything June touches is done at the highest level of professionalism. She is the penultimate go-to resource for so many communities in the printing industry, including the Ben Franklin Honor Society, National Print Owners Association, Western States Printing Alliance, and virtually every affiliate of PIA. June also has responsibility for PIA’s member central department which interfaces daily with PIA members. Additionally she is the recording secretary to the PIA Board of Directors and serves at the staff liaison for PIA’s Association Relations Committee."
Amongst Crespo's career achievements are the fact that she is only one of two PIA employees to have twice been voted by her peers as the Peer Employee of the Year and has been recognized frequently with the PIA Employee of the Quarter Award by PIA’s Chief Executive Officer and was also awarded PIA Employee of the Year in 2013.
Crespo is a passionate promoter of print, a role model to female executives through the printing industry, and an individual who will always go the extra mile to ensure another’s success. Prior to joining PIA in 2001, June worked in the import and export business in New York City and Alexandria, Va. for over 20 years.
