Kodak Digital Printing Solution Jointly Purchased by Commercial Printer and Photo Lab
ROCHESTER, NY—Oct. 2—Equipped with a new Kodak Nexpress 2100 plus digital production color press and Kodak Nexglosser glossing unit, Woolverton Printing and American Color Imaging (ACI) can now produce high impact color printing and glossing for photographers. The joint purchase three months ago between the commercial printer and professional photo lab has opened several new doors for the two Cedar Falls, IA, companies.
“We did our homework ahead of time and found that the quality of output from the Nexpress 2100 plus press was superior to anything we saw,” said Len Searfoss, Business Development Manager at Woolverton Printing Company. “The quality of the Kodak Nexpress 2100 plus press has really caught the attention of the professional photographer customers of ACI, ultimately allowing both our companies to grow our business and reach new customers in the photo services market. ACI provides us with the work, and we produce consistent high quality results on cutting edge technology that pleases virtually every palette—it is as simple as that.”
The Kodak Nexpress 2100 plus digital production color press meets a variety of needs from entry level to very high volume environments. Customers are able to upgrade presses as they grow their businesses with options to select desired paper capacity, increase processing capability, and a fifth imaging unit for delivery of spot color, watermarking and protective coating with the GATF InterTech Award winning Kodak Nexpress fifth imaging unit solutions. The fifth imaging unit solutions also enable high impact glossing in conjunction with the Kodak Nexglosser glossing unit.
The Nexglosser glossing unit adds more cost effective, high impact gloss coverage to photobooks, calendars, postcards, point of purchase displays and even offset printed materials. By printing on offset waxless ink and then applying a coat of Kodak Nexpress clear dry ink to the sheets, the Nexglosser glossing unit serves as an efficient, offline glossing system that adds even more value to printed documents.
“The differentiation provided by the Nexpress 2100 plus press and Nexglosser glossing unit gives us a competitive advantage over other professional labs, allowing us to help photographers grow their business with customers,” said Mark Lane, President of American Color Imaging. “The productivity and connectivity are very important features of the Kodak color digital printing solutions. The press is an ideal output device that works well from our Kodak Professional Digital Print Production Software (DP2) lab architecture.”
Founded in 1967 by previous owner, Donald Lohnes, American Color Imaging is a full service portrait and wedding processing lab. With a commitment to delivering fine print quality and exceptional service, ACI provides processing to professional, portrait, wedding, undergrad and sport photographers, and offers hybrid solutions for both conventional and digital studios.
Woolverton Printing Company, established in 1900, has remained committed to providing the highest quality product with unmatched service and value. In addition to serving customers in the photo services market, Woolverton Printing has taken on more short run and variable data printing for customers in the higher education and automotive industries since the installation.
