Kodak Receives 2022 Pinnacle InterTech Award and Pinnacle Product Award
Kodak is delighted to have received a 2022 Pinnacle InterTech Award for the KODAK MAGNUS Q4800 Platesetter, which offers market-leading speed and productivity for extra-large format (XLF) plates, and a 2022 Pinnacle Product Award in the Digital Press Output category for the KODAK NEXFINITY Digital Press with interchangeable imaging stations to improve versatility.
The Pinnacle InterTech Awards recognize innovative technologies which are predicted to have a major impact on the graphic communications and related industries. The Pinnacle Product Awards recognize products that improve or advance the printing industry with exceptional contributions in quality, capability, and productivity.
The MAGNUS Q4800 Platesetter is capable of imaging plate sizes up to 1,600 x 2,870 mm for 96-page web offset presses at a throughput of 21 plates/h (@2,870 mm plate width), making it the world’s largest computer-to-plate system. The highly automated MAGNUS Q4800 also supports dual plate imaging. It is the only CTP device capable of imaging two 1,650 mm wide plates simultaneously, with a maximum plate size of 1,650 x 1,600 mm at a throughput of up to 46 plates/h. With its custom-configurable pallet automation options, this KODAK platesetter provides online capacity for up to 4,800 plates in up to eight different sizes.
The NEXFINITY Digital Press is the most versatile digital press on the market. It offers an unprecedented variety of substrate types as well as sheet sizes and thicknesses. NEXFINITY also provides a unique range of print embellishment options in its fifth imaging unit.
“A very special note of congratulations to Kodak on receiving a coveted Pinnacle InterTech Award for its MAGNUS Q4800 Platesetter technology,” said Dawn Nye, Program Manager, PRINTING United Alliance. “The judges voted for this solution particularly because it enables users to produce more plates in an automated workflow, which can be a big time-saver and it ensures high quality and greater efficiency and accuracy. The automation allows for minimized labor and the possibility of errors, all of which contributed to the technology being named with this distinction.”
Regarding the Pinnacle Product Award for the NEXFINITY Digital Press, she stated: “The Pinnacle Product Award competition represents the best of the best among commercial hardware, software, consumables, and industrial and screen equipment. This is the only competition I know of that reports on the percentage of Adobe RGB a printer can hit. Some categories were decided by tenths of a point, so fierce was the competition this year.”
“We are proud Kodak has won a Pinnacle InterTech Award and a Pinnacle Product Award this year. The KODAK MAGNUS Q4800 Platesetter has already begun to transform XLF printing by providing unmatched productivity and cost savings to this segment of the market. It has given our XLF offset customers a step-change in labor savings, efficiency, and growth. And with NEXFINITY, we have a sheetfed digital press in our portfolio that is in a class of its own in terms of versatility, quality and productivity,” commented Jim Continenza, Executive Chairman and CEO, Kodak.
