"The demand for UV Coating has intensified in the past decade, especially in the digital environment. The result is a product that looks great but is also protected from the elements, and has extra durability for repeat handling. The Kompac Kwik Finish will add depth and appeal to printed pieces. The colors appear brighter and more vivid with a rub resistant finish" said Tom Hayes, President of Kompac Technologies, LLC. To showcase the capabilities of their new Kompac Kwik Finish 26 Offline UV Coating and Curing System, Kompac Technologies has chosen three images printed using MetalFX. Kompac will be coating the images in Booth 2681, and the items are expected to be popular with attendees as souvenirs of the show. Commenting on his selection, Kompac Director of Marketing Sean Gilmore said: "The images--a colourful lizard, a majestic butterfly, and sparkling diamonds--look terrific when printed using the MetalFX process, and the Kompac Kwik Finish makes them look even more striking." The samples were prepared by Stevenson--The Color Company, of Cincinnati, Ohio, one of the early MetalFX licensed printers.
MetalFX Vice-President Americas Mark Geeves observed: "MetalFX is pleased to cooperate with Kompac. The Kompac Graph Expo samples graphically demonstrate the stability of MetalFX inks, and provide an excellent example of how designers can further enhance their work through the use of both MetalFX and coatings. Samples will also be available from the MetalFX, in Graph Expo booth 4549."
MetalFX, a recent Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corporation acquisition, is a universal process and spot metallic color system that allows millions of metallic colors to be printed, all by adding only the one base silver ink to the usual CMYK mix. Ciba Specialty brings more than 40 years of experience in color matching to the worldwide graphic arts, paints, plastics, fibers and ceramic industries.
