Three Dog Logistics Delivers Cookies and Smiles
BALTIMORE—For Three Dog Logistics, deliveries usually involve thousands of pieces of direct mail delivered to postal facilities around the world. This week, though, some of their shipments took a sweeter approach when trucks filled with cases of Girl Scout Cookies pulled up to Walter Reed Military Medical Center, destined for soldiers being hospitalized there.
Three Dog Logistics participated in Operation Cookie Drop, a program that put 70,000 donated packages of Girl Scout Cookies into the hands of military personnel at home and abroad. Through their partnership with Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Three Dog Logistics picked up crates filled with cookies in New York, and delivered them to service members—and their families—receiving care in military facilities in the Washington, DC area.
John Kennedy, CEO of Three Dog Logistics, welcomed the opportunity to support U.S. troops by volunteering his company's time, staff and resources to making cookie drops. "I have enormous respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for our country, and delivering a few cookies seems like such a small token of my appreciation," he said.
Three Dog's role involved delivering 10,000 boxes of cookies to Walter Reed Hospital, Wounded Warrior assistance sites and Fisher House Foundation facilities (a place for families to stay while their loved ones are receiving treatment at major military medical centers).
Tucked into the cases of cookies were personal notes and hand-drawn cards, created by the Girl Scouts, thanking the soldiers and sailors for their service and wishing them well. Girl Scouts also wrote notes and drew pictures on the Three Dog shipping containers.
