LogoJET Donates Direct-to-Substrate Printer to SGIA for Testing and Usage
FAIRFAX, Va. - March 6, 2018 - LogoJET, a global leader in UV direct-to-substrate inkjet printing equipment, has donated a UV2400 UV-LED direct-to-substrate model printer to SGIA for testing and usage. SGIA will use the versatile printer to learn more about UV ink adhesion by printing on unique substrates using a variety of printing techniques. SGIA will share that information with the printing industry through a comprehensive instructional program.
“This is an incredible acquisition which we will use to drive the industry forward through education,” said Ray Weiss, digital imaging specialist, SGIA. “We are very appreciative of LogoJET for their generous gift.”
The UV2400 produces vibrant full-color imprints on virtually any substrate, including most materials, colors and flat and dimensional products. It also allows operators to print a white underbase, build texture and utilize other unique printing techniques with clear and primer inks.
With information gathered through initial testing of the printer, Weiss said he will create a new, essential SGIA workshop. “I’m frequently asked about UV ink adhesion. Having this printer here will afford us the opportunity to run tests and develop a workshop to help answer those important questions,” he said.
Mark Berglund, VP of technology development at LogoJET, said the contribution builds on the long-standing relationship between SGIA and LogoJET. “We are very happy to have this relationship - LogoJET has been an SGIA member for years. We have sent many of our technicians to attend SGIA workshops, including the Color Management Boot Camp, and it has been very beneficial and informative.”
SGIA workshops provide hands-on training and are open to members and nonmembers. Companies interested in donating or loaning equipment or materials to SGIA’s Fairfax, Va., headquarters can contact Ray Weiss at ray@sgia.org for more information.
