Océ North America Trims Jobs in Connecticut
TRUMBULL, CT—As many as 135 jobs are expected to be cut at Océ North America as part of an integration plan developed since it was acquired by Canon Inc. three years ago, the Connecticut Post reported. A majority of the cuts will be made at its headquarters here, with the bulk of the layoffs coming on New Year's Eve.
The impacted employees work in a wide variety of positions in administration and support, the Post said. Of the total, 124 workers will be let go in Trumbull, 10 from Shelton, CT, and one from East Hartford, CT. After the New Year's cuts, the remainder will be laid off during 2013.
Canon acquired Océ for $1.1 billion in 2009. The Trumbull office was acquired by Océ when it purchased Imagistics International, a Pitney Bowes spinoff, in 2001.
