Mallard Press Acquires American Graphic Specialties
LOMBARD, IL—12/01/08—The Mallard Press is proud and excited to announce the purchase of American Graphic Specialties, a long-time provider of specialty products and services. In addition, key personnel from AGS will be joining the staff of Mallard Press.
About American Graphic Specialties: Serving Chicagoland for over 20 years, AGS specialized in engineering, and finishing customized products such as; presentation folders, point-of-purchase items, counter cards, folding cartons, laminated items and many types of packaged products.
About Mallard Press: For more than 30 years, Mallard Press has been investing in the latest state-of-the-art offset and digital printing equipment. The purchase of AGS essentially allows Mallard Press to increase their capabilities in the customized bindery arena. In the past, Mallard Press was able to engineer and print die-cut and packaging products, but was limited to the extent of die-cutting, folding & gluing that was done in-house. They now are able to produce unusual and customized items from conception through completion all under their own roof.
“We’ve seen a real need to increase the amount of services we can offer our customers to simplify their marketing and print buying needs,” says Bob Gay, President of Mallard Press.
With that goal in mind, several years ago Mallard Press purchased the KBA Genius 52 Waterless UV Press, which has shown to be one of their greatest assets. The KBA press has the ability to print on specialty substrates such as foils and plastics such as lenticular and pressure sensitive labels and films.
Then, more recently, they purchased the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP. The ImagePRESS is a powerful digital color press engineered for ultra-high-quality, on-demand production printing, and value-added services such as variable data and pURL. Through this latest acquisition of AGS, they are excited to be able to offer their customers another important service.
“When I first visited AGS, I was blown away by the care and pride they showed to their equipment and to the products they created. We are all so excited to have their key employee, Mike Midona, Jr. join our staff and to be able to offer so many new ideas and solutions to our customers,” states Bob.
“We’ve all worked very hard over the last 30 years to deliver consistently high quality products and services to our customers”, Bob said. “It will be fantastic to be able to expand and build on that.” “Be prepared to see die-cut products with variable data in the near future!”
