ELIZABETHVILLE, PA--October 10, 2008--Manugraph DGM, Inc. (MDGM) announces today that they will take over sales responsibility for the Americolor double-width four-over-four tower.
MDGM currently designs and manufactures the Americolor as a slip-in 4/4 color addition to any existing double-width press.
Since the development of the press in 2002, MDGM has used George R. Hall Contracting, and Inland Newspaper Machinery Corp. as sales agents for the product.
"In the beginning, we believed companies like Hall and Inland were better suited to market the Americolor press to double-width users, which in turn enabled MDGM to focus on our core single-width market. MDGM and parent company Manugraph now have the necessary resources to take back the Americolor product line," says Dave Moreland, Vice President of Sales for MDGM.
MDGM has tapped Ron Ehrhardt, their current Vice President of International Sales, to oversee the Americolor sales operations. "Ron actually started the Americolor promotion when he was with George R. Hall Contracting in 2002. He has superior knowledge and vast experience with the product, so we feel more than comfortable taking the sales for Americolor in-house" added Moreland.
Americolor is currently in use at Charleston (WV) Newspapers on a Goss Metro press, Hagerstown (MD) Morning Herald/Daily Mail on a Goss Cosmo press, and the Bloomington (IN) Herald-Times on a KBA Express 50 press.
2008 was also the year that MDGM brought to market the DGM 1270 folder, a 70,000cph 2:3:4 jaw folder that can be used with Americolor. "We've demonstrated to the industry that we can successfully integrate the Americolor to a variety of presses. Now, with the 2:3:4 jaw folder we can offer new towers and folders placed on existing reels which negates the need for new press buildings, and also allows for web width and cut-off reductions that today's newspapers require" added Ehrhardt.
MDGM is hoping that Newspaper publishing companies and periodical printers will take a fresh look at 4/4 additions in the wake of the current market for new press sales in North America. "It's a cost effective solution for more color, along with possible paper width and cut-off reductions, that newspapers will need to react to the ever changing market conditions of this industry" added Ehrhardt.
