Manugraph DGM Wins Large Press Drive Order from Forum Communications in Fargo, ND
ELIZABETHVILLE, PA—September 12, 2014—Manugraph DGM has sold 22 MDGM DC4000 series Digital Motion Control Drives to Forum Communications based in Fargo, ND. The drives will be installed at nine Forum properties: Grand Forks Herald in North Dakota; Forum Detroit Lakes in Wisconsin; Brainerd Dispatch in Minnesota; Duluth News Tribune in Minnesota; Red Wing Republican Eagle in Minnesota; Willmar West Central Tribune in Minnesota; Dickinson Press in North Dakota; Forum West Fargo in North Dakota; and the Mitchell Daily Republic in South Dakota. In addition to the Forum orders, Manugraph-DGM is also announcing single drive orders to the Trinidad Daily News and the Murray Ledger Times in Kentucky.
"In 2012 we identified a growing industry need to design a digital drive system that can be sold on our new presses and be integrated to existing drive platforms," explained Ron Ehrhardt, vice president of sales for Manugraph-DGM. "Older existing drives are becoming more difficult to support with replacement parts and simply put are no longer being supported by their original manufacturers."
Since 2012 Manugraph-DGM has installed 35 MDGM Digital Motion Control Drives. "Our electrical engineering team visited all nine Forum sites, developed a comprehensive project plan for each, and with our growing user base we were able to give Forum the confidence needed to commit to such a large purchase," commented Ehrhardt.
The DC4000 drives feature 24/7 remote diagnostic support, multiple drive configurations, easy integration to existing press drive systems, and they are the only drive system manufactured and supported by a newspaper press manufacturer. "We can install these drives not only on our Manugraph and DGM presses, but Goss, Tensor, Harris, King and Web Leader presses as well," added Ehrhardt.
Shipment of the Forum orders will begin in Oct. of 2014. The project will take approximately two years to complete.
