Marrs Printing & Packaging Taps Agfa Graphics for New MGI JETvarnish 3D and iFOIL Solution
CHICAGO—September 15, 2015—With an eye toward the future, Marrs Printing & Packaging, working with Agfa Graphics, has decided for the first time to bring digital printing technologies in-house to supplement its traditional embossing, foil stamping and screen printing capabilities. Marrs Printing & Packaging has purchased the award-winning MGI JETvarnish 3D and iFOIL digital enhancement system, which will become the cornerstone of Marrs' effort to offer increased brand enhancement options to their clients. MGI is a leading designer and manufacturer of award-winning digital presses and a complete line of versatile finishing solutions.
"We have always had traditional embossing, foil stamping and screen printing technologies in-house. However, the MGI JETvarnish 3D and iFOIL system is the first solution that does all three functions on one single piece of equipment," commented Walter Marrs, owner and founder, Marrs Printing & Packaging. "We are working with Agfa and MGI to explore a brand new personalization feature that has never been available before in the packaging industry, what we call 'Variable Data Foiling.' This technology can apply box-specific embossed foiling of names, data and graphical embellishment on each piece that we produce. Traditional die-making costs made this impossible. The JETvarnish 3D provides printers with true value-added services for 3D or traditional flat spot UV coating on runs from one to thousands. JETvarnish 3D targets offset commercial printers, digital printers, finishing houses, silk screen printers, specialty photo printers and book publishers. The most popular applications are book covers, brochures, business and invitation cards and packaging. The iFOIL digital embossing and hot foil stamping solution eliminates the need for films, dies and makeready, allowing for highly profitable hot foil stamping and embossing work.
