Medford, OR, Minuteman Press Aims to Double its Growth in the Next Five Years
MEDFORD, OR—March 17, 2015—Minuteman Press of Medford has been serving Southern Oregon and Northern California for 20 years. Owner Dave Greenhalgh opened the printing and graphics business located at 722 Rossanley Drive in 1995, choosing the world’s top printing franchise to leverage his decades of sales and marketing experience. Today, the 74 year-old owner, who is mentoring his stepson and business partner Sean Byrne to step into his role, is exemplifying what it means to run a business that has remained relevant in the face of industry change.
For printing veteran Greenhalgh, marketing is in his blood. Before he purchased his Minuteman Press International location, he spent 20 years in the high tech medical equipment industry selling diagnostic ultrasound systems, with the last five years before his time as owner spent as the national sales manager for the vascular division of a large diagnostic ultrasound company. This experience would define how he would run his Minuteman Press.
“Working in a high technology industry helped prepare me for the rapidly evolving digital technology I would find in my printing business,” said Greenhalgh. “This experience also impressed upon me the importance of good communications with our employees as well as with our customers. A prompt response to customer inquiries and a clear understanding of their needs is an important aspect of our service at Minuteman Press.”
At age 12, stepson Byrne would ride his bike to Minuteman Press of Medford after school and help out in bindery. Byrne officially joined Minuteman Press eight years ago in sales and has been managing the business with Greenhalgh for four years. Together, the two have buoyed their Minuteman Press to the next level, joining the franchise’s President’s Club on the back of its sales volume and contributions to the community.
“The key to our growth is our exceptional staff,” said Greenhalgh. “Printing is a details- and-deadline business and everything we do has a sense of urgency. Customers have really come to appreciate that about us.”
But Greenhalgh and Byrne aren’t letting their success limit their passion for doing more with the business. In 2013, the pair added a mailing service to the shop’s roster of services. For Minuteman Press of Medford, success has been found by combining timeless rules of good business with an eye toward progress and making improvements when needed.
“The expression ‘to grow or go’ is meaningful and I see us doubling our business in the next five years,” said Greenhalgh. “This is not only desirable, but with the reception we’ve received from the community, doable.”
