Metro Users Group and Goss to Hold ‘Virtual Conference’
January 27, 2010—The Metro Users Group will turn to a series of webinars from March 22 to 25, 2010 as an interim replacement for its annual on-site conference.
The free webinars for newspapers operating larger-format Goss presses, including double-width systems and single-width two-around models, will be held daily from 10:00–11:30 Central time. The interactive sessions will be led by technical experts from Goss International and the newspaper industry. Topics will include practical ideas and technical advice on improving productivity, minimizing downtime and waste and extending the competitive lifespan of press units, RTPs and folders.
Pre-registration for the Metro Users Group Virtual Conference is required and can be completed at www.metrousers.com. Additional information, including the specific subjects covered during each session, will also be posted at the Group’s web site.
“Communicating with peers and technical experts is more critical than ever in today’s environment, as we seek new ways to produce better products faster and more efficiently,” explains Matt Theiler, president of the Metro Users Group board and director of printing operations at the Minneapolis, Minnesota Star Tribune. “The Virtual Conference gives us an opportunity to keep valuable information flowing in a year when financial pressures make attending an on-site user group meeting almost impossible for most newspapers.”
The independent Metro Users Group was established in 1968. The annual Metro Users Group conferences are intended to provide technical support and networking opportunities for Goss newspaper press users.
