Printer Purchases Customized, 81" UV Press
MINNEAPOLIS—Retail marketing solutions print provider Meyers has purchased a new six-color, 81" KBA Rapida 205 sheetfed press with coater and UV capabilities as the cornerstone of a $10 million capex initiative. The press, which will significantly bolster Meyers' production capabilities, is slated to be ready for action by next spring.
“Our $10 million investment in new technology is centered on this new KBA press, which is designed and engineered specifically for the in-store signage and display segments of retail marketing,” notes Fred Silloway, president of Meyers Retail Marketing Solutions Group. “This investment closely aligns the needs of our customers with our growing core competencies and demonstrates a clear path to market leadership.”
The press represents the second phase of an overall $16 million investment in the company, which includes a large-format digital flatbed press, custom print management information system, and other auxiliary equipment.
One factor that led to the purchase of the Rapida 205 was the press' ability to support the Meyers Lean/Quick Response system. The automation features on the press will also reduce cycle time, allowing the printer to deliver promotional signage and display solutions to market faster.
