MGI Earns Three ‘MUST SEE ’EMS,’ Boasts Strong Sales at PRINT 09

MELBOURNE, FL—Sept 28, 2009—MGI Digital Graphic Technology/MGI USA, the multi-substrate (paper, plastic & envelopes) digital press and finishing solution manufacturer, announced a very strong showing at PRINT 09, which included receiving three prestigious MUST SEE ’EMS awards and closing more than 15 Meteor DP60 Pro digital presses at the show.

Products selected as MUST SEE ’EMS were chosen from more than 4,000 individual products shown at PRINT 09 by almost 650 exhibitors. A panel of 21 leading industry consultants and trade magazine editors selected the winners, which represent technologies that will impact virtually all types of printers.

MGI’s Meteor DP60 Pro multi-substrate digital press received an Encore MUST SEE ’EMS in the Production Color Digital Press category, where it was originally honored at GRAPH EXPO 2008 alongside the HP Indigo 7000 and Xerox iGen4. The most versatile digital press in the industry, the Meteor DP60 Pro can print on the widest range of paper and plastics/synthetic substrates, including envelopes, PVC, Teslin, magnets, canvas, vinyl, CS1/CS2, polycarbonate and many others, up to 16 pt/350gsm/130 lb cover. The Meteor DP60 Pro produces laser-safe prints on the widest cut sheet size range among digital presses, ranging from 4x6” up to 13x47”, is FOGRA certified and features integrated color management tools.

Also receiving MUST SEE ’EMS honors was MGI’s JETvarnish® digital inkjet spot UV coater, which was the only recipient in the Postpress category. The revolutionary offline finishing unit provides printers with an economical, 100% digital method for spot UV coating on digitally or offset printed substrates up to 20x29”, ideal for short to long runs or for prototyping/proofing. The Must See ‘em is the third award the JETvarnish has received within the last year, also receiving technological innovation honors at the World Packaging Exhibition in Paris (Oscar de l’Emballage) and at Graphitalia in Milan by the European commercial printing sectors (Best Product of the Year 2009, EDP).

MGI’s Meteor DP20, a revolutionary 4-in-1 digital photo press (print, laminate, cut & crease in just one pass, ideal for photo book production) was also honored as a Must See ‘em. The Meteor DP20 received the DIMA Innovative Digital Product Award at PMA 09, which recognized technological achievement in the photo industry.

PRINT 09 was a very successful show overall for MGI and their distribution partners around the world, including their US dealer network. Traffic through the booth was consistently strong and sales of more than 15 Meteor DP60 Pro digital presses were closed at the show, mainly to commercial printers in the US.
