MGI Wins Emballage Innovation Award for Its JETvarnish 3D with iFOIL Digital Finishing Solution

MELBOURNE, FL—November 6, 2014—MGI Digital Graphic Technology is pleased to announce that the Pack Experts Committee has awarded the iFOIL with the “Innovation Award” at 2014 Emballage Packaging Exhibition.

The Emballage Packaging Exhibition, held from Nov. 14-17, in Paris-Villepinte, is expecting over 100,000 visitors this year to see the packaging and handling industry’s best. With an average annual growth rate of 4 percent, the packaging industry is making great strides in packaging functionality and innovation.

This year’s 1,500 exhibitors submitted over 208 innovative products to the Pack Experts Committee. The Committee consists of industry experts, many from large international companies with worldwide expertise, such as: L’Oréal, Coca-Cola, and Nestlé. The top eight entries were given the prestigious “Innovation Award,” including the MGI iFOIL module.

Working in-line with the JETvarnish 3D, the iFOIL uses a revolutionary 100 percent digital process to create embossed hot foil effects. The duo take print jobs to the next level, adding luxury to everything from magazine covers, books, brochures, labels to invitations and packaging. The innovative technology used by the pair has drawn a lot of international awards due to their unique inkjet technology and the 100 percent digital process. The iFOIL and the JETvarnish 3D perform the following jobs:

• Spot UV Varnish 2D/3D
• From three to 200µm embossing
• Hot foil embossing process for up to three simultaneous colors
• Variable data both for Spot UV Varnish and Foiling
• Up to 3,000 B2 size sheets an hour

The iFOIL and JETvarnish 3D are the first 100 percent digital solutions available for this industry worldwide.

These solution reflect MGI’s strategic choices to provide the newest innovations and value-added solutions to the digital printing and finishing industry.

The Innovation Award will be delivered on Monday, Nov. 17 at 11:30 a.m. In addition, the awarded products will be shown in a dedicated space, “Pack Innovation,” at the Hall 6 entrance.

The iFOIL and JETvarnish 3D, as well as various other MGI printing and finishing solutions, will be running LIVE demonstrations at the MGI Booth #G135, Hall 6 (Paris-Villepinte).
