MHM to Incorporate Memjet's DuraFlex Technology in Its iQ Oval Textile Printer
Memjet announced that MHM, a provider of textile printing equipment, will incorporate Memjet’s DuraFlex technology in its iQ Oval textile printing press. The partnership is the first textile application for Memjet, creating a turnkey, retrofit garment-printing solution with the speed, quality, and ease of use garment manufacturers need to succeed in a changing market. MHM will discuss the development of this new solution at the upcoming Impressions Expo (formerly ISS conference), being held Jan. 17-19 in Long Beach, Calif.
MHM’s iQ Oval is a modular, safe, and easy to operate direct-to-garment printing press. The modular nature of the machine means it can be configured for almost any production requirement and can be expanded to accommodate for future growth.
DuraFlex is Memjet’s modular single-pass inkjet print solution with enhanced durability, A4 and A3 plus widths in a four-color printhead, a high-speed data path and modules that control all printhead functions.
“Combining the speed, simplicity, and affordability of DuraFlex with the extensive capabilities of the iQ Oval creates a hybrid printing solution with the quality and flexibility needed to meet the demands of direct to garment printing today – and in the years ahead,” says Russell Boa, senior vice president of Memjet’s short run digital business.
A History of Innovation
Since its founding in 1980, Austrian-based MHM has brought an innovative approach to the development of screen printing equipment for textiles. Today, the company services a global customer base with a range of textile production equipment.
Adding DuraFlex technology to the iQ Oval enables MHM’s customers to navigate changes in the textile market. In this new marketplace, where consumers demand more choices in their garments, garment producers must create more designs and less volume of each design.
By enabling the fast production of small-batch lots, the digital capabilities of the iQ Oval give manufacturers the resources to effectively respond to these trends. Smaller runs can be produced just-in-time, ensuring faster delivery and reduced waste from the production of large quantities of garments that quickly go out of fashion.
Reliability and Ease of Use
MHM has customers that run 24/7 operations all over the world. While many of these businesses want to move to digital printing, their lack of technical expertise or resources makes the digital transition a daunting prospect.
The flexibility of the iQ Oval, combined with the long printhead life of the DuraFlex printing technology, ensures these customers can move to digital without worrying about unplanned downtime while waiting for technical support.
“Printer uptime is critical to the success of our customers,” says Thomas Fröhlich, CEO at MHM. “But many of our customers have limited technical knowledge, or operate in regions with limited technical resources. That’s why we chose DuraFlex. Its long printhead life, combined with easy maintenance, ensures our customers have the resources needed to produce high-quality output and succeed in this fast-paced market consistently.”
