PHILADELPHIA — April 18, 2017 — Jude Arijaje knows that trying to build a business on marketing jargon is more than a long shot, it's impossible. The dynamic, multi-unit Minuteman Press franchise owner continues to make strides as part of the industry-leading digital print, design and marketing tradition through the fundamental practice of excellent customer service. He is a champion of finding solutions to the problems his clients present each day, and prides himself on being central to producing the kinds of results that help other businesses hit their marks, no matter the industry.
"You have to keep marketing and constantly work to create relationships through talking to people about who you are and what you do. Finding ways to add value to your customers' experience and simply doing things better than the competition is all part of gaining a loyal following," says Arijaje. "I don't just say, 'Hey, I produce high-quality work at affordable prices.' That's marketing jargon. We actually provide the excellent customer service through results, not jargon."
The Philadelphia 76ers Found a Valued Neighbor in Local Minuteman Press
Through the "old-school" practice of knocking on doors to greet potential new clients, Arijaje secured an account with the NBA's own Philadelphia 76ers and began doing basic print products for the team that means so much to the local community.
"I realized their corporate office was literally down the road from our shop, so one day we went down the road and decided to introduce ourselves and let them know we were neighbors and we were in a position to help their marketing department. They were receptive to the fact that we could turn high-quality jobs around quickly. I assured them even on game days, last minute, we can take care of anything you need. So, they gave us the chance to prove it," Arijaje explained.
Initially producing postcards and flyers, Arijaje and his team impressed the organization enough with their reliability and strong results that additional printing jobs were requested and produced. Arijaje shares, "We do a lot of signs for game day, as well as promotional post cards and flyers. From there, we do the official team envelopes, too. The signs for game day are full-color foam board and are usually 24x36 or 36x48 signs (sometimes with player photos imprinted) and they provide patrons within the stadium with directions to restaurants and gift shops. The small cards we print are handed out to all the people who come to the game and highlight particular promotions."
Anyone who attends major league sports is familiar with the experience of walking up to life-size renditions of their home town heroes in uniform. Arijaje and his team at Minuteman Press is responsible for printing those player representations for the Philadelphia 76ers.
"Yes, we print the player cutouts. They are life-sized and full-color. They are printed on one of our wide-format presses and they are quite impressive. The diecut process can be challenging, but we have the right equipment and the right skills. We have the capacity to take on challenging jobs and deliver just what is needed by the particular client and this product is a particularly fun one to produce," according to Arijaje.
He goes on to comment on his partnership with the local NBA favorite, "We began a partnership with the 76ers 3 or 4 years ago and they are quite happy with our work. The first job we did for them was a $35 business card and now we are doing a whole lot more and look forward to continuing our working relationship."
"76ers" is Part of the Team Name as a Tribute to the Gallant Men Who Forged This Country's Independence.
Maia Ben-Shoshan is the Business Development Coordinator for the 76ers and she is impressed with Arijaje's Minuteman Press location and their work as a marketing services provider, acknowledging that meeting the sometimes last minute demands of an NBA team is no small feat. "Jude and Minuteman Press are great. We request a lot of last minute items to be printed since we are an NBA team and sometimes there is that need to have things done with very little notice. Jude and his team are always accommodating and they do things efficiently. Even though things are produced quickly, the quality is really good and they are on time. It is a pleasure to work with him."
Between his Bala Cynwyd and South Philadelphia Minuteman Press locations, Jude Arijaje maintains a continuity of excellent customer service and results that stem directly from the tradition developed more than 40 years ago by the founder of the franchise, Roy Titus. His relationship with a fast-paced high-demand professional sports team is strengthened by his insistence that each job is done better than expected. Arijaje adds, "You just have to make sure your best-foot is forward at all times with all of your clients, but with a big name, especially, you cannot afford to be less than top-notch, ever."
The core philosophy of Minuteman Press resonates with its most successful franchise owners Arijaje reflects on this, concluding, "What we do is find a way. You come to us and we help you solve your problem. It is my goal to help every single customer, each that I have the privilege to walk with in business, to provide the right solutions to their problems. That's our whole purpose."
