Mitchell Press Acquires Assets of North West Bookbinding
Mitchell Press has acquired the assets of award-winning custom bindery, North West Book Operating Company (NWB) of Bellingham, Wash. Founded in 1960 and operated by Master Book Binder Tom Strohhacker, North West Book was a force in high-end, award-winning case-binding and custom box-making for decades. Tom’s untimely passing from ALS shocked the industry and NWB closed their doors in December of 2018.
Long-time friends and collaborators of NWB initiated the acquisition. The next chapter starts today, allowing Mitchell Press to immediately bring perfect binding in-house, and dramatically expanding their book making, and custom fabric wrapped box fabrication value-added services. This expansion of highly customized finishing options support their offset and digital print services, setting Mitchell Press apart from any commercial printer in Canada and the Pacific northwest.
Master Book Binder Claus Larsen recently joined Mitchell to expand their in-house custom-finishing services.
