LINCOLNSHIRE, IL—For a married couple, a silver wedding anniversary signifies their long-term commitment. For MLP U.S.A., 2009 signifies a quarter century of providing Mitsubishi sheetfed offset, commercial heatset web and newspaper presses to printers throughout North America. To honor the occasion, the company recently hosted an open house here for graphic arts industry news outlets, as well as to recap Mitsubishi's achievements in pressroom technology over the past 25 years, including its new Diamond V series sheetfed press lineup.
Two commemorative posters were printed in the Mitsubishi Litho Center to demonstrate the high performance and fast makereadies of its six-color Diamond V3000LX wide-stock UV press. Ideal for high-end commercial work, labels, packaging and point-of-purchase displays, press enhancements include a 29-1/2x41-11⁄32? maximum sheet size and design improvements to the feeder and delivery.
In addition, the press runs highlighted Mitsubishi's fully automated SimulChanger plate-changing system and its Diamond Color Navigator color-adjustment system.
A new customer entertainment lounge adjacent to the Mitsubishi Litho Center has been completed recently.
Also attending was Jack Palmer, vice president of operations at Sarasota, FL-based Coastal Printing, who commented on his company's success as the first V series press with Navigator installation in the United States. "We bought the press because of the relationship we've had with Mitsubishi over the years," he said. "They don't dance around the issue (if there's a concern). They address it and produce an excellent product."
Able to run more images up due to the larger format size, Coastal Printing is averaging five four-color make?readies a day on its Diamond V series press.
