COHOES, NY—February 27, 2014—Mohawk will announce an expanded portfolio of synthetic substrates, including new Mohawk Synthetic Paper with i-Tone, at Dscoop9 (booth #401), March 6-8, in Orlando, FL.
Mohawk Synthetic Paper with i-Tone recently achieved top rating at RIT’s HP Indigo certification program, achieving three-star certification in all categories. The proprietary i-Tone surface chemistry on Mohawk papers is highly regarded for its outstanding ink adhesion, and now that same technology will be available for the first time on a Mohawk synthetic substrate. Samples of Mohawk Synthetic Paper with i-Tone, as well as other digital products will be available at the Mohawk booth (#401) at Dscoop9.
Mohawk Synthetic Paper with i-Tone eliminates the need for laminating, and delivers vibrant print quality with unsurpassed ink adhesion. It’s a high performance synthetic with the look and soft feel of paper. It is extremely durable, waterproof, tear resistant, and is recyclable as a #5 polypropylene plastic. The product line will feature a broad range of calipers from 6 – 14 mil for a variety of customer applications. Commercial availability is planned for the second quarter of 2014.
Mohawk Synthetic films save time and money, resulting in prints that are ready in minutes and are up to 35 percent more cost effective than laminated products. Mohawk Synthetic Paper with i-Tone is ideal for a variety of end uses, including EMT/Fire department maps and manuals, bar and poolside menus, event passes/maps and tickets, ID tags/cards, luggage tags, plant tags/stakes, outdoor and indoor signage, waterproof documents, hunting/fishing/boating guides, and many other uses.
Mohawk will also announce a line extension to its Dimensional Product portfolio—a new two-part pocket folder that is HP Indigo compatible and available on three premium Mohawk digital papers. Historically a challenging job, these new pocket folders allow printers to cost effectively and profitably produce short run jobs that may have previously been outsourced.

Dscoop9 Direct Mail + Mohawk = Breaking the Mold
When Dscoop designed promotional mailings to educate and inspire attendees about the upcoming Dscoop conference, they turned to Mohawk to maximize the impact of their messages.
The first promotional direct mail piece created by Dscoop featured a product from the Mohawk Dimensional Portfolio. Mohawk Dimensional Via Linen Digital with i-Tone 110 cover was used in a pre-scored, pre-perforated sheet in a 4x4 cube template. With superior runability and easy assembly, Dscoop was able to demonstrate the conference theme, “Breaking the Mold” by creating a multidimensional vehicle for their message.
The second direct mail piece created by Dscoop was designed to communicate the variety of professional and educational sessions available throughout the conference. This promotional piece was printed on Mohawk Superfine Eggshell Digital with i-Tone Ultrawhite 120 cover and its tactile beauty is likely to be appreciated and remembered by attendees.
