WILLARD, OH—The city manager here told a local newspaper that RR Donnelley informed him there would be temporary and voluntary layoffs at its book printing plant. Willard City Manager Brian Humphress was contacted by the printer in late January, advising him of the job actions, the Norwalk Reflector reported.
While no figures were given, Humphress told the paper that the buyouts would number in the tens, not hundreds, according to his conversation with a Donnelley representative. The temporary layoffs could last as long as several months.
In other company news, Donnelley has advised workers at its Limerick, Ireland, facility that their jobs would be phased out over the next nine months, according to the Irish Times. The move will result in the loss of 477 jobs. The work will be moved to a new facility in Poland, where a major client, Dell, relocated to after closing its Limerick operations.
