Webcrafters Trims Staff with Voluntary Packages
MADISON, WI—Book manufacturer Webcrafters has completed the staff reduction program announced in March, with 127 employees opting for a voluntary separation package and just six leaving on an involuntary basis.
The voluntary packages represented 95 percent of the staff reduction at Webcrafters, a family-owned conventional and digital four-color educational book printer. Those packages included six months' severance pay, benefits and outplacement services.
“Technology and the market will continue to evolve in book manufacturing,” said Jac Garner, Webcrafters’ CEO. “But I’m confident that making this significant employment change is an essential step in ensuring that Webcrafters will continue to be a successful venture, employ hundreds of skilled workers and remain a strong contributor to our local economy and community.”
