Muller Martini to Feature Diverse Capabilities of Innovative Alprinta-V Continuously Size-variable Press
HAUPPAUGE, NY—08/01/07—During this year’s Graph Expo show, Muller Martini, the world leader in variable size web offset presses, will again show why the company is setting the pace in innovative press engineering. Visitors to booth #3863 can learn all about the unique capabilities of Muller’s exciting new Alprinta-V continuously size-variable web offset press as well as view several samples created in a single pass with this technology.
The Alprinta-V series utilizes an infinitely size-variable insert system. The insert remains in the press during a size change, since only the actual size parts – the blanket cylinder and the plate cylinder – are exchanged. The change is completed without tools and breaking the web is not necessary. The size parts are light and easy to handle, yet extremely stable. In a matter of minutes, the press can be changed over to a new size.
Thus, the Alprinta-V makes size changeovers amazingly quick and also less costly, resulting in a size variability that is comparable with flexo and gravure printing. Since these hybrid printing technologies can also be added to the press line together with in-line finishing applications such as laminating and matrix waste removal, the Alprinta-V provides the ability to substantially enhance profit potential in a variety of printing applications, particularly labeling and packaging applications. The extensive range of packaging applications stretches from self-adhesive labels to base material, to bottle labels made of paper or plastic film – produced in a single pass and delivered on rolls or in sheets. Cooling cylinders are available for UV curing, so that even temperature-sensitive materials such as shrink sleeves can be processed with ease.
At Graph Expo, Muller Martini will be displaying several print samples produced by the Alprinta-V on various substrates popular in the packaging market. The samples will range from a 38 micron plastic transparent film printed with stochastic screening to a direct mail job with heavy coverage produced on 10 pt. coated stock. Included in this range are label samples printed on both paper and shrink sleeve materials.
The Alprinta-V web offset press achieves speeds up to 1,200 ft/min. while also delivering high quality printing results that rival sheetfed. Job preparation is very quick and highly efficient thanks to Muller Martini’s renowned job set-up technology which enables incredibly fast make-readies. In fact, the Alprinta-V’s unique new “artificial intelligence” handles set-ups for both new and repeat jobs automatically, presetting such essentials as register and ink fountain profiles without prompting – lowering labor costs and also freeing personnel to perform other tasks.
Graph Expo takes place September 9-12, 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
Show attendees are invited to stop by the Muller Martini exhibit (#3863) and speak with Muller press experts to find out more about the versatile capabilities of the Alprinta-V continuously size-variable web offset press and the ways it can enhance the profit potential of many different printing applications in various markets.
