Muller Martini Reports High Traffic at GRAPH EXPO of Visitors Migrating to Digital Print Finishing
HAUPPAUGE, NY—October 7, 2014—At Chicago’s GRAPH EXPO 14, the traffic at Muller Martini’s booth consisted primarily of key purchasing decision-makers looking to explore their options—and opportunities—as they migrate to the world of digital print finishing. They met with Muller’s engineers and product specialists to discuss how a host of component-driven finishing solutions can provide a stable future and deliver investment protection as businesses cross into digital print manufacturing platforms, including:
- Presto II Digital Saddle Stitching system—The 2013 Must See 'Ems award-winner offers multiple complementary configurations for both traditional and digital print finishing.
- SigmaLine—Muller Martini’s file to complete book solution.
- SigmaTrimming Center—Engineered for both offset and digitally produced books in a one-off or short-run workflow.
- Alegro Perfect Binder—An unprecedented nine installations within the past 18 months.
In addition, Muller’s in-booth seminar, Barcode Enabled Touchless Workflow, was very well received by attendees. Touchless Workflow automates makeready and is Muller Martini’s solution for achieving optimum efficiency in a digital finishing environment.
In addition, Muller introduced two productivity-enhancing products scheduled for availability in 2015. The AMS Adhesive Monitoring System employs a laser to measure how much glue has been applied and whether there are any adhesive application irregularities. This allows the operator to fine-tune glue quantity during actual production.
The other new offering, the Dynamic Thickness Stitching Head, offers the ability to adjust to variable product thicknesses on the fly, a significant benefit for those producing personalized or customized products with varying numbers of pages or thickness.
Muller Martini’s booth was also visited by the graduating class of Clemson University’s prestigious Graphic Communications curriculum, one of the nation’s most highly regarded graphic arts programs. Graduates spoke to Carrington Herbert, MMNA vice president of sales, about the latest finishing technologies, as well as what’s ahead. Herbert Commented: “The times are changing once again. It was very exciting to speak with these highly motivated young people who see a real future within the graphic communications industry. Growth opportunities, particularly with digital print manufacturing, are coming to fruition. And Muller Martini is proud to be engineering the solutions that can assist printers and binderies making the migration.”
