NELA to Display Three-Around Technology
RIVER FALLS, WI— August 29, 2011—NELA is proud to announce the successful completion of three-around print tests at large metro newspapers in the United States.
A precision filler bar (patent pending) replaces the existing lock-ups to fill the gap and provide a flush cylinder surface. NELA’s proven filler bar technology eliminates the need to replace the plate cylinder when converting to three-around technology. The filler bar is precision machined to keep the cylinder balanced during high-speed printing.
Three-around enables the printer to print three images/pages per revolution. Benefits are higher press productivity, more color output and over 30% reduction in newsprint consumption.
NELA has built vision punch/bending and plate automation equipment for similar plate sizes for the Korean newspaper market for decades. The format used in Korea is named “Towel” format and is similar in size to three-around print solutions.
“The 3-around print test results at these two US newspapers exceeded our expectations”, says Jürgen Gruber, Director of Sales & Marketing for NELA. “We are extremely excited to have a product for the newspaper market that enables our customers to enhance their competitive edge”.
NELA will display three-around punch/bending and plate automation solutions at its booth #246 at the upcoming GRAPH EXPO Show in Chicago.
