NELA to Focus on Five ‘New’ Themes with Its Product Introductions at drupa
LAHR, GERMANY—April 26, 2012—NELA, market leader in plate automation and high-precision register punching and bending equipment for newspaper and commercial printing, will have new products on its drupa 2012 stand representing the top-five themes that every printer is concerned with: productivity, logistics, speed, vision and quality.
New Productivity
In sheetfed printing, short throughput times for Internet orders and small runs are leading to increased plate consumption and more plate changes. To step-up productivity, plate punching, bending and sorting may be automated. NELA presents on its booth the SF1100 Bender, which processes up to 120 pph and may be connected in-line with any plate exposure line. A special stacker bundles the imaged and bent plates according to print jobs.
New Logistics
In large-format web offset printing, it has become increasingly important that imaged, punched and bent plates are delivered to the press just-in-time, and in the right order to mount on the press cylinders. NELA manufactures—according to customer’s requirements—storage, sorting and conveying systems for offset plates with the appropriate software modules. Installation examples with the NELA LogiStack can be seen on our drupa booth.
New Speed
Speed is still the most important issue in newspaper printing, next to plate logistics and automation. At drupa, NELA presents the VCPevolution HS 800 register punching and bending system with a capacity of more than 420 pph. Due to its speed it may be installed in-line with today’s fastest exposure lines.
New Vision
At NELA, we have been specializing for many years on the application of optical inspection systems in the printing industry. A logical addition to the control of register on plate and paper, the NELA OPRC system is a fully automatic inspection tool for color register and cut-off register on the web. The system is ideally suited for retrofit on older presses, and it can be seen on our booth in live operation.
New Quality
Register issues on older presses can be eliminated fast and easy with NELA Lock-ups. NELA manufactures and installs the lock-ups, zeros the press and trains the staff. Print quality will increase significantly. With NELA lock-ups, presses may be prepared for upcoming web width reductions. Lock-ups for several press types will be on display on the NELA booth!
