New Digital Finishing Solutions from Duplo to Take Center Stage
SANTA ANA, CA—August 4th, 2009—At PRINT 09, Duplo USA Corp. will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a series of key product debuts demonstrating complete automation and versatility. Visitors to the Duplo booth (#202) will also see the extensive Duplo portfolio running live jobs on its booth, as well as on its partner stands: Canon, HP and Xerox.
New Finishing Solutions
The show will be the platform for Duplo’s recently introduced DFS-3500 near-line Bookletmaking System developed to completely finish full-bleed booklets in a single pass. Ideal for short-run applications, it incorporates the DBM-350/T mid-range Bookletmaker and Trimmer in-line with a DC-445 Creaser, combining slitting and creasing features with the stitch, fold and trim features of the DBM-350 Bookletmaking System. With multiple functions in one system, the need for a separate guillotine cutter and a separate creasing machine are eliminated. The ability of the DBM-350/T to handle set-by-set and sheet-by-sheet output and the DC-445 Creaser to eliminate toner cracking on digital applications make it the ideal solution for printers transitioning from offset to digital. The DFS-3500 creates high quality booklets without time-consuming set-ups, and with multiple functions in one system, turnaround times and labor costs are greatly reduced.
In addition, visitors to PRINT 09 will witness the first US showing of the DKT-200 – a new two-knife trimmer for the System 5000 which provides a clean header and footer trim with the additional capability to add a third and fourth knife for gutter cutting on 2-up booklet applications.
Duplo will also debut a new addition to its Digital Duplicator range. The DP-A120 is a new entry-level Duplicator which provides the ideal digital print solution during the current challenging economic times as it has a lower equipment investment cost yet still maintains the quality and reliability Duplo’s Duplicators are known for.
Other Show Highlights
Other highlights on the Duplo booth #202 will include Duplo’s recently introduced DC-645/615 and DC-445 Integrated Folding System configurations which include a new knife folding option. By incorporating folding into the single system operation, printers can now fully finish different applications such as greeting cards, folded ‘tent’ business cards and many more.
With the DPB-500 PUR, Duplo has recently added a PUR version to its fully automatic, single clamp DPB-500 Perfect Binder, making it efficient for binding books printed on digital and coated stocks. The PUR glue provides a high-pull strength ensuring each page is firmly bound and can be opened flat without any risk of page detachment.
In addition, Duplo will be exhibiting more near-line sheetfeeding and bookletmaking systems than at any other print exhibition before, including the DSF-5000 Sheet Feeder with SCC Slitter/Cutter/Creaser module, the DSF-2000 Sheet Feeder with DBM-120/T Bookletmaker and Trimmer as well as the DFS-3500 near-line solution. Duplo will also showcase its full range of slitting/cutting/creasing solutions as well as a range of its Digital Duplicator systems.
Also on the booth, Duplo will create a virtual integrated print shop so visitors can experience the live production of photo applications in an end-to-end workflow with support from Digilabs on the design and publishing side while Ultimate will produce print-ready production files and job impositions. The applications will then be printed at the Duplo booth using a Xerox 700 Digital Color Press and finished with one of Duplo’s full-line of digital color finishing solutions.
Si Nguyen, director of marketing, Duplo USA Corporation, says: “We fully appreciate that this last year has been extremely tough for our customers so we’ve been working diligently in developing a number of finishing solutions with even higher automation and versatility that will allow printers to further lower their production costs while increasing efficiency.
