This exclusive pre-show preview highlights new products and services submitted by several exhibitors that will be displaying their wares Sept. 25-28 during Graph Expo 16 in Orlando, Fla.
Canon U.S.A. will be displaying the Océ VarioPrint i300 sheetfed inkjet press that features new ColorGrip technology, an in-line paper conditioning step enabling high-quality inkjet printing on a variety of cost-effective media. Also on hand will be the PRISMAdirect order and workflow management solution, as well as the PRISMAsync print server family, the first DFE-embedded G7 Certified system.
Exhibited by Standard Finishing Systems, the Standard Horizon SmartSlitter offers sheet cutting, perforating and creasing in one pass. It features simple operation, a color touchscreen and easy job setup via barcode. The print mark registration adjusts for digital image shift from sheet-to-sheet. The Smart-Slitter is ideal for greeting cards, table tents, invitations and business cards. Skip perforation is available for T- and L-perfs used in tickets, coupons and reply cards.
Designed for the commercial printer, in-plant and mid-sized converter, the bizhub PRESS C71cf exhibited by Konica Minolta Business Solutions is a four-color, digital, roll-to-roll label press. For printers seeking a solution between the entry-level desktop label presses and full production digital solution, this press ultimately helps with the transition from analog to digital label printing.
The Xerox Corp. Brenva HD production inkjet press is the first in an innovative series of cut-sheet inkjet offerings that combines the cost-effectiveness of inkjet with the flexibilities of cut-sheet printing. The new press enables print providers to capture growth opportunities in key application areas, such as direct mail, transactional and books.
XANTÉ Corp. will be presenting live demos of the Impressia digital multi-media press. This system has the ability to produce full-color envelopes on-demand with rapid print speeds and enhanced color quality, all at a very low cost per print.
Showcased by Ricoh USA, the Ricoh Pro C9110 is a high-speed, heavy segment production color digital printer with a speed of 130 ppm and the ability to print on media up to 400 gsm. It is said to deliver superior quality, reliability and productivity at prices much lower than what is currently available today.
Made in the U.S., the Insignia5 featured by Rollem International is a sheetfed flexo-magnetic rotary diecutter capable of diecutting, kiss-cutting, perforating, scoring and hole punching anything from card stocks to plastics, laminates and films up to 24-pt. thickness. Key features include run speeds up to 5,000 sph, ease of operation and quick changeovers. The press handles sheet sizes 20x15˝, while a larger IS7 model handles 30x24˝ sheets.
KBA North America will be highlighting its KBA VariJET 106 Powered by Xerox, an industrial digital sheetfed press for the folding carton market that integrates Xerox Impika inkjet technology into the KBA Rapida 106 platform. The 29.5x41.7˝ press will print at speeds up to 4,500 sph. Its modular concept enables the combination of digital inkjet printing with optional in-line capabilities, such as traditional printing, coating, cold foil, diecutting, screen printing and more.
Duplo USA will exhibit its range of digital print finishing equipment. The Duplo slitter/cutter/creasers will be on display, along with various saddle stitching and automatic bookletmaking systems. Also shown will be the UD-300 diecutter, perfect binders, tabletop folders and cutters.
EFI will be showing the latest EFI Fiery product line, including the new Fiery NX DFE with touchscreen display, an adjustable-height workspace and a proximity sensor to automatically wake from sleep mode. The new Fiery XB DFE platform offers high-power scalability to drive new, ultra-high-speed inkjet presses from Landa, Xerox, Canon and EFI.
Showcased by GSNA/RMGT, the RMGT 9 Series LED-UV press with SMART RPC technology delivers the versatility of LED-UV instant curing, latest-generation automation and broad substrate capabilities in a package that is said to provide the lowest total cost to print when compared with other eight-up presses.
manroland Web systems will demonstrate its MasterQ software module, an automatic job sorting program that acts as a link between MIS systems, prepress or Web-to-print applications, and printing and finishing processes. The module sorts, groups and verifies print orders, even if they stem from various sources. Prepared jobs are then relayed to the digital printing systems and the print finishing controls. In return, these provide MasterQ with status and process information.
The MGI Meteor Unlimited Colors press series from MGI Inc. is a powerful new synthesis of digital press and postpress technology that produces a virtually unlimited number of colors via the blending of CMYK toner and the reflective qualities of foil film, including a rainbow spectrum of metallic, glitter and holographic effects.
Featured by Air Motion Systems | AMS LED UV, the XP Series LED UV Module provides the highest curing intensities and greatest working range for high-speed sheetfed and web offset presses; additionally, total uniformity enables gap-less curing. The patented, liquid-cooled form factor features replaceable LED chip packages; the MultiWave Wide Spectrum option enables compatibility with many standard UV inks.
Epson America will showcase its wide-format digital imaging solutions, including the 64˝ SureColor P20000, engineered for the high-production of virtually any photographic imaging application; and the SureColor S80600 solvent printer, featuring advanced imaging technologies set to redefine quality expectations in the signage, vehicle graphics and fine art reproduction markets.
PressWise by SmartSoft will be showing the latest enhancements to its all-in-one Web-to-print, MIS and workflow automation platform. These include all-new kitting functionality, new purchasing capabilities, single sign-on options for in-plant print shops and a number of other new features to be revealed at the show.
Showcased in HP’s booth, the 29˝ HP Indigo 12000 digital press provides general commercial printers a new benchmark in print quality and compatibility with synthetic materials that extends B2-format application opportunities. The press also features increased automation and productivity, allowing users to process thousands of jobs per day.
The Sterling DigiBinder Plus spotlighted by Spiel Associates is a fully-automated perfect binder that binds up to 360 books/hr. up to 2.25˝ thick. The pneumatic clamp and the nipper adjust automatically, while the roughing blade roughs and notches the entire backbone of the book, allowing for the binding of coated and oil infused stocks. Twin glue rollers ensure an even glue application and also side glues. The machine can produce pads or book blocks for hard-cover binding.
GMC Software is highlighting its Inspire Mobile Advantage, which allows users to create responsive, interactive, regulatory- compliant mobile experiences with little reliance upon IT. This easy-to-use platform integrates with existing systems and pulls data from anywhere, transforming existing documents into fully featured mobile experiences in just hours.
Spiral Binding will announce the new James Burn DocuPunch MINI at this year’s show. After a simple setup that takes less than a minute, this automatic punch system has the ability to automatically punch up to 10,800 sph. Die changes take just seconds. Users need only load the paper, push the start button and walk away.
Introduced by THERM-O-TYPE Digital Finishing Solutions, the NSF Ultra foil stamping, embossing and diecutting press is ideal for finishing and enhancing digital output. It can be used to diecut and score pocket/presentation folders and more.
The Inkjet Mailing and Efficiency Solution exhibited by Solimar Systems provides mailers migrating to inkjet with powerful tools for fast, easy and efficient transition to full-color inkjet. This solution allows users to concatenate small production runs, optimize PDF files for rated speeds, digitally commingle mail for true presorted order, change required barcodes for finishing equipment and add variable digital inserts.
Highlighted at the show, the EZturner manual load turner is inexpensive and easy-to-use. It will turn up to 2,000 lbs. in less than 30 seconds. The machine is mobile, has no motors, is low-maintenance and puts no pressure on the load.
On display from Graphic Whizard, the PT 335SCC Multi is a complete, full-bleed finishing system with partial perforating capabilities in both directions. This system can crease, cut, slit and perforate — all in one pass. With a high-capacity 4˝ pile feeder, it is ideal for business cards, greeting cards, invitations, tent cards and tickets, among other applications.
At Mohawk’s booth, attendees will see specialty digital substrates including Mohawk’s expanded wide-format portfolio, which features more than 100 new items for a wide range of applications and ink types and numerous additions to the cut-sheet portfolio.
The Aerocut Velocity presented by MBM Corp. slits, cuts, creases and perfs business cards, postcards, tickets and more on various types of stocks up to 400 gsm. It is twice as fast and includes more adjustments than the Aerocut Classic with a greater sheet capacity.
For the first time in the United States, Tecnau will exhibit the Stacker s25, along with the established double-cutting Cutter c23. The Stacker s25 features a new gripper technology to provide reliable, damage-free handling of heavy-ink-coverage graphic arts applications at high speeds.
Highlighted by Presstek, the 52DI ECO-UV is a four-color, two-page waterless digital offset press with ECO-UV, an integrated UV curing system that dries sheets instantly. Chemistry-free imaging and printing occurs within one highly automated system. The press prints high resolution, 300 lpi on substrates up to 20-pt. thick, including plastics and vinyl. ECO-UV is available as a field upgrade or when purchasing a DI press.
Avanti Systems will unveil its latest version of Avanti Slingshot, the industry’s first Print MIS to provide seamless integration with HP PrintOS. The new Point-of-Sale module enables users to spend more time servicing their customers and less time reconciling transactions with fast order entry, invoice generation and real-time, point-of-sale reporting.
Spotlighted by Masterpiece Graphix, the Masterpiece Graphix 12-pt. Silver Board is ideal for showcasing customers’ brands with reflective properties. Applications include packaging, direct mail, tickets, signage, door hangers, business cards, hang tags, bookmarks, invitations, magazine covers, event/VIP passes and more.
Web to Print Shop will display uDRAW. This modular HTML5 product designer can be added to any website to facilitate product personalization and customization. uDRAW has a turnkey plug-in for WordPress/Woocommerce, 10 different UIs to choose from and is translated into more than 200 languages, enhancing the flexibility of this Web-to-print technology.
GPA, Specialty Substrate Solutions, will display its latest substrates for offset, HP Indigo, toner digital and wide-format presses, including premium specialty papers for HP Indigo and toner digital presses, pressure-sensitive rolls for roll-fed HP Indigo presses and an exclusive offering of Folex Synthetics for HP Indigo presses.
Rochester Software Associates will show WebCRD, an in-plant Web-to-print software that sends jobs directly to production printers without re-ticketing. The latest version further automates workflows and reduces costs. New features include visual job ticketing for simplified ordering, AutoFlow+, Production Auditing, Configurable Production Statuses, integration with RSA’s ReadyPrint makeready and more.
Aleyant will premiere its PrintJobManager, a cloud-based print job management solution that includes a fast means of generating market-driven pricing, job management, inventory control, planning and estimating across a variety of production technologies and applications.
Fastbind USA’s booth will highlight the Fastbind PUREVA XT. This short-run PUR and EVA perfect binder allows users to bind soft or hardcover books up to 500 sheets with either EVA or PUR hot melt glues, depending on the job requirements.
Accura MIS will demonstrate a complete print management solution for companies providing digital, wide-format, litho, web offset, label, flexo and mailing operations. The Accura MIS end-to-end solution offers a fully integrated CRM with B2B Web-to-print from a CORE client database, with estimating, production, proofing links, delivery notifications and invoicing.
Tharstern will present the Tharstern MIS, a fully integrated and modular Management Information System that can be configured to the requirements of each business. The solution supports all of the major disciplines of print, including wide-format, digital, packaging and label.
Neopost USA is expanding its line of folder/inserters with the introduction of the DS-600i. This production inserter meets the workflow demands of almost every mailing application. At speeds of 6,000 #10 and 4,000 flats/hr., the DS-600i can process a wide range of media, including coated and glossy booklets, feed documents both portrait or landscape, and facilitate in-line envelope printing.
The OKI C942, offered by Oki Data Americas, delivers five-color printing capabilities reportedly at a fraction of the price of competing devices. With output speeds up to 50 ppm, the C942 applies crisp white and full color-on-color printing to a range of media in a single pass.
The latest generation of the Technifold USA Web Creaser System will debut at the show. This in-line web press scoring tool now has three different creasing rib profiles to handle a wider range of paper. The new Spine-Hinge Creaser for web presses applies four simultaneous scores for high-quality, perfect-bound book covers.
Zoo Printing announces the expansion of its Free Delivery Program to customers in Los Angeles, San Diego and Oxnard, Calif.; Louisville, Ky.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; West Deptford, N.J.; and Philadelphia. From a single business card order to 10,000 catalogs, all delivery is free.
Magnets 4 Media will be showing its 2-in-1 magnet and postcard options. These offerings are said to be able to increase your customer’s ROI 10 to 15 times more than ordinary postcards.
The Challenge Machinery Co. will introduce the CMT 330TC three-knife book trimmer, capable of trimming landscape-formatted, perfect-bound books such as photo albums. The TC’s large color touchscreen interface, integrated barcode reader and integrated in-line and off-line book feeding components make the CMT 330TC trimmer the perfect fully automatic book trimmer.
Estimator Cloud will be introduced by Estimator Corp. This intuitive MIS creates real-time, one-screen estimates for any and all print processes. The program features a simple interface that allows users to learn to use the program in one day; a single screen “point and click” cloud technology; the ability to compare four parts and six quantity pricing for all presses; and it can be installed within 48 hours.
Offered by BCC Software, the Integratec API Platform is a secure and scalable architecture that allows users to integrate presort software into their existing USPS mailing preparation process. PAVE certified and built using ZeroMQ messaging and CurveZMQ security, Integratec is said to be the only presort API available with both top security protocols and postal certification.
Hop Industries will roll out new grades of its 100%-waterproof synthetic papers, Hop-Syn. The wide-format Hop-Syn TO, BL and XT grades are available from 0.008-0.020 gauge in a variety of roll widths. Hop-Syn TO and XT offer a bright white, high opacity, smooth matte finish for two-sided printing; while Hop-Syn BL is a translucent, .010 gauge paper designed for back-lit displays that need to withstand direct sunlight and high temperatures.
A new nesting optimization module will be presented by Ultimate Technographics. Impostrip Automation v.10 offers true shape nesting in a fully automated mode. It easily connects to a cloud, onsite workflow or storefront, and the AutoNesting feature streamlines the intelligent placement of shapes on a sheet or a roll. Its unique template-less approach allows for greater flexibility and productivity.
NewsWay X is ProImage America’s updated generation workflow solution. Redesigned with the latest technology, it supports the newest operating systems; based on HTML 5, it supports all mainstream browsers. With its easy-to-use interface, staff does not require lengthy training sessions in order to learn the software.
Printpoint Inc. will debut the PrintPoint 7 MIS cross-platform software for digital, offset, mailing and wide-format print shops. It features estimating, fulfillment, Web-to-print, job costing and more. The new estimate and job GUI is said to be versatile to accommodate every job.
Pineberry Manufacturing will be highlighting its Pineberry CA 10000 affixing system. This system has a placement tolerance of 0.1mm. Integrated with Pineberry friction feeders and a vacuum conveyor line, automated affixing systems will stick, glue or attach product to a carrier. Applications include gluing gift cards, magnets, coupons and pharmaceutical onserts/inserts for complex, full mailing and fulfillment solutions.
Swiss finishing systems supplier Imaging Solutions AG will introduce the new fastBook Professional XXL book block system for layflat photo books. The format range from 8x8˝ up to 18x18˝ allows photo labs to produce photo albums in XXL format for a panoramic photo presentation.
Premiered by CGS Publishing Technologies, the ORIS Flex Pack // Web Visualizer lets packaging professionals create accurate, photo-realistic 3D virtual prototypes that can be securely viewed online. Stakeholders can view, certify and print in a single application with real-time collaboration, significantly reducing costs and time-to-market.

LogoJET will announce its UVx90 direct-to-substrate printer, which features an expanded imprint area of 24x36x6˝, offering increased capacity for larger products. This printer allows users to customize a variety of products and substrates using UV-curable inks, including CMYK, White, Clear Gloss and Primer. Variable resolutions and RIP software allow adjustments for faster output speeds or highly detailed finishes.
Keder Solutions will showcase Keder, consisting of a core and fabric. The core is made from extruded PVC, or another elastic material, to allow flexibility. The core is then wrapped in Keder fabric, which has exposed fibers on the outside so the Keder can easily slide into an extrusion with a luff groove-keder track. It features coating on the inside to ensure proper adhesion during welding. For maximum strength, a Double Coated Keder is also available. When used in banner and signage construction, it enables strong, sleek and lasting installations.
Document Data Solutions presents the iDataPrint family of hybrid inkjet printers for cut-sheet and roll-fed/web applications. Introduced by Window Book, By/For Validate! is a postal automation tool that utilizes the PostalWeb platform. It is primarily intended for commingled mailers that prepare mail with MLOCRs and is essential for anyone concerned with the USPS’s thresholds and consequential fee assessments.
Premiering at ATS-Tanner Banding Systems AG’s booth, the ATS US-2000 FSB-A Ultra-Sonic Banding System automatically counts, stacks and bands printed products in one step. The continuous-feed system features touchscreen programming and adjustable stack settings, allowing it to process up to 100,000 products/hr. or 25 bands/min. Banded bundles of film, paper and printed materials are then easily palletized or boxed.
4over will show its complete line of custom packaging for merchandisers who want total design freedom and a finished product that pops. 4over also has an expanded large-format product mix, with premium stocks and coatings available on its most popular standard products.
The MegaEdit Web-to-print solution will be demonstrated by Infigo Software. Now featuring both a dynamic document editing tool (MegaEdit PRO), and an innovative photo gift personalization solution (MegaEdit PHOTO), this cloud-based software is said to deliver unrivaled flexibility and functionality.
KIP America will show the KIP 860. This 36˝, wide-format, two-roll, toner-based, color and black-and-white printing system has an integrated scanner and is said to be perfect for environments that require multi-function productivity in a single footprint, space-saving design.
Nitta Corp. will reveal its newest belting options for folders, stackers, finishing and other industry applications. Representatives will also discuss how the new facility expansion in Suwanee, Ga., will extend Nitta’s line of “Made in the USA” products to include all Nitta belts for printing and bookbinding.
Muller Martini will offer live equipment demonstrations utilizing the Vareo for both offset and digital printing, the Presto II Digital saddle stitching system and Connex data and process management system.
Harris & Bruno International will highlight the ExcelCoat series of off-line/in-line coaters for UV and AQ. Harris & Bruno’s chamber systems consistently apply UV, soft touch, AQ, matte and other high-end coatings with particulates. Various levels of automation are available.
Avery Products will present an expanded offering of the AveryPRO 12x18˝ pressure-sensitive material that is engineered for liquid and dry toner digital presses. The new label stocks complement the existing collection of quality substrates, with the addition of new materials like Soft Touch and a Durable PET.
Joining the 31.5˝ Prism P80 at Colter & Peterson / Microcut’s booth will be the 28˝ Prism 73E. The Prism P80 features a Microcut color touchscreen computer. The new 73E comes equipped with a Mitsubishi computer control package and electro mechanical clamp/knife drives.
MPI Print Inc. provides trade printing services throughout North America. The company operates a 32-page KBA heatset web press with in-line color and cutoff control, and has a sheetfed division with one of the largest trade binderies in the country. MPI produces projects in a rapid and low-cost manner, and will ship, and custom broker it over the border.
