New Xerox iGen 150 Press Boosts Digital Productivity, Supports Growth at Angstrom Graphics
CLEVELAND—December 1, 2015—Angstrom Graphics is improving client digital printing productivity by as much as 30 percent with a new Xerox iGen 150 digital press installation. The new press replaces older iGen technology and provides greater capacity for handling digital printing volume that continues double-digit growth.
“In a mature market, digital printing, front-end technology and customized programs automate our processes and reduce cost,” explained David Neumann, chief operating officer, Angstrom Graphics. “This has allowed us to improve efficiency for our clients, attract new business and maintain margin.”
Angstrom’s heritage is in producing high-quality sheetfed, web offset, and digital printing of catalogs, point-of-purchase displays, signage, publications and brochures requiring exceptional color and an efficient workflow All of the shop’s print platforms are G7-certified for color management and also benefit from streamlined production enabled by Angstrom’s front-end programming and Internet storefront technology.
The iGen 150 supports the company's automated, quality-conscious environment, providing 2,400x2,400 dpi print resolution and multiple line screens for improved detail, fine lines, small text and overall image quality control. In addition, the press’s new Matte Dry Ink delivers an appearance more like that of an offset press, preferred by many customers.
About two-thirds of Angstrom’s digital printing volume is new business, Neumann said. Many of the new customers come from snapbrand.com, Angstrom’s on-demand website that offers templates to create business cards, brochures and post cards.
The rest of Angstrom’s digital printing volume has transferred from offset to capture faster turnarounds and more automated processes in applications such as point-of-purchase signage and displays, which accounts for more than a third of the firm’s business. The iGen 150’s large maximum sheet size of 14.33x26˝ accommodates many retail signs and displays, and is particularly well suited to automated fulfillment from the Web-based repositories Angstrom retains for many of its larger clients.
“Across the board, digital expands the range of work we can produce,” Neumann said. “We are capable of taking an idea from inception to creative, producing print or digital output, providing complete fulfillment, and efficient delivery plans—all things larger firms provide with the personal service a smaller firm provides.”
Angstrom Graphics has been a Xerox customer since initiating a digital printing business in 2007, and has used Xerox ProfitAccelerator Digital Business Resources to successfully spur growth in its digital business.
