New Xerox Tools Help Printers Capture More Personalized Print Business

ROCHESTER, NY—August 30, 2011—Printers will be able to drive additional print jobs with Xerox Corp.’s new FreeFlow Variable Information (VI) Suite, which features upgrades that make it easier for them to design, create and produce the personalized and customized documents that marketers are demanding.

FreeFlow VI, which can be used in any print environment, manages jobs ranging from detailed statements and invoices to sophisticated marketing brochures and high-impact, creative postcards.

FreeFlow VI increases productivity by reducing the time spent on document design, file preparation, composition and print. That means jobs move faster through the shop and printers can meet their clients’ time-sensitive deadlines.

Enhancements to the FreeFlow VI Suite include:

• VI Design Express—offers an easy way to produce attention-getting personalized material quickly and efficiently. A user-friendly plug-in to Adobe InDesign handles design creation such as programming of personalized jobs, so printers don’t have to learn new software or integrate standalone tools into existing processes.

• VI Compose—speeds production by “constructing” documents right at the device, eliminating the time spent transmitting large files. Printers simply send their design template and variable data to any available printer where VI Compose builds each page automatically. VI Compose can be used at virtually any printing system – Xerox or non-Xerox device.

• VI eCompose—creates PDF files of the finished marketing piece so it can be viewed electronically—an important offering in today’s world of multimedia, smart phones and tablets. This workflow option allows printers to extend their customized communications offerings beyond print to include electronic distribution, web presentment and digital archiving.

• VI Design Pro—gives technical staff the ability to create complex, customized marketing pieces without limiting their creativity.

Productivity Apps Make Personalization Easy
Xerox’s VI On-the-Fly Productivity Apps are ready-to-use templates that simplify the most common personalization jobs. With these templates, printers can quickly respond to clients requesting posters, postcards and business cards. VI On-the-Fly also includes technical support to answer any production questions.

The Xerox FreeFlow VI Suite and Productivity Apps will be featured in the Xerox booth 400 at Graph Expo 2011 in Chicago, Sept. 11-14.
