Acquired Printer Sees Employee Rolls Slashed
SYRACUSE, NY—Dellas Graphics, which was acquired by Canfield & Tack last November, has seen 20 of its 31 jobs eliminated through layoffs and attrition, according to The Post-Standard. Most operations have been shifted to Canfield & Tack's Rochester, NY, facility.
The 11 workers will be kept on in Syracuse as part of a reduced operation, Canfield & Tack Chairman Ray Brown told the newspaper. Initially, the company had acquired Dellas to expand its geographical footprint and bolster its presence in Central New York. Upon further analysis, Brown said his company felt it would be more beneficial to move the offset printing and bindery work to Rochester and take advantage of that plant's more modern printing gear.
Proofing, sales and administrative work will remain in Syracuse for the time being, and the business will likely relocate to another office in Syracuse.
Tom Dellas, former owner of Dellas Graphics, has put the 31,600-square-foot Canal Street building that formerly housed the printing company up for lease.
