SGIA Expo is the North American premiere of the next-generation hybrid LED printer platform from Electronics For Imaging (Booth 301) – the new EFI VUTEk h series. The 126-inch wide printer is the culmination of EFI’s decades of experience in signage and graphics production technologies as the world’s leading manufacturer and developer of UV and LED inkjet superwide-format printers and inks.
Long-time EFI user PVS In-Store Graphics is one of the first to use the new platform, installing a VUTEk h3 printer that gives the company a distinct productivity and efficiency advantage. “The installation process on the printer was the best we’ve had in our 12-year tenure using EFI VUTEk equipment,” said Nick Olson co-owner, PVS.
The printer’s speed is especially important for the company, which is well-known for the premium-quality POS and specialty display graphics work it does for several blue-chip brands. “We cut our teeth on fast turn jobs,” Olson said. “This fits right in our niche.”
The printer runs up to 74 boards per hour. Plus, the VUTEk h3 model can be upgraded to a EFI VUTEk h5 model on site. With the upgrade, users can get even greater speed and capacity – up to 47% higher productivity with top print speeds of 109 boards per hour.
EFI’s “cool cure” technology, which provides lower energy usage compared with latex or UV inkjet, enables printing on thin or specialty substrates that cannot withstand the heat associated with drying prints on UV or latex printers.
